The CCAE State Conference planning team needs your assistance in making this the highest-attended conference ever! So, we encourage you to download these posters and mini-reminders for duplication and distribution in your local areas. We suggest placing the "minis" in individual staff boxes and in all correspondence, and/or handing them out at all CCAE functions where members and non-members are present. Also, the posters can be reprinted as 8.5 x 11 or larger to be placed on display in break rooms, offices, etc. You may even want to add a digital version to one of your local publications or newsletters!
Let's make "Uncharted Waters" the trending topic of the year!
Make your hotel reservations!
The Bahia hotel registration process and link have been activated. To make reservations, members can call the hotel at 800-576-4229. There is no conference code for reservations. Members just need to tell them the name of our organization. Reservations can also be made online, at the dedicated link for CCAE, below. $139 for Garden View rooms, $159 for Bay View rooms.
Conference rates apply 3 days before and 3 days after event, so 4/21 through 4/27. Rooms must be booked no later than March 24 to receive the advertised discounted room rate, and there is a 72-hour cancellation policy. Make your reservations here:
Southern Section is thrilled to announce the procurement of the Bahia Resort as the site for our 2014 CCAE State Conference.
After many hours of negotiating and some real sacrifices by the conference team (we had to stay the night and enjoy the amenities of the resort), we are pleased that we have chosen a place where our colleagues can enjoy the best of what Southern California is all about: sun, sand, blue water, and great opportunities to network, and grow as individuals and educators.
We have chosen the theme, "Adult Education—Uncharted Waters" for this year's conference because we truly feel that the face of adult education will be changing over the next few years. We are being challenged to "redefine" ourselves in the public's eye, and to better convey the purpose we serve in our individual communities. Those of us involved in adult education have always been clear about our value and the tremendous impact we make in the lives of individuals who come through our doors. The new challenge, the unexplored challenge, is to how educate the public, our educational partners, the stakeholders, and the legislature, that we are not the "Last resort for losers" that many have envisioned us to be. Adult schools are not just a place to go when you need to wrap up your education by achieving that diploma or GED, but in addition they are a launching platform for setting and achieving personal goals that positively changes one's life. From language and basic education to job certification to entering a college or university, the journey can begin at their local adult school and that is a journey worth taking, even on Uncharted Waters!
We invite you to join us next April 24–26 at the beautiful Bahia Resort in San Diego, when we will navigate the future of Adult Education together through Uncharted Waters!
