About Us: 24 Reasons to Join CCAE

  1. CCAE is the only organization that includes teachers, classified employees administrators, counselors, coordinators and all other employees of adult education.

  2. CCAE is the only organization that recognizes and honors adult educators for their excellence.

  3. CCAE spends thousands of dollars every year for staff and student scholarships.

  4. CCAE provides leadership opportunities for members who otherwise may have the talent, but not the opportunity, to express that talent.

  5. I would like to testify before a legislative committee but I can’t get away. CCAE does it for me. Our Legislative Analyst and CCAE leaders testify on my behalf on adult education bills and issues.

  6. CCAE employs a Lobbyist who monitors every piece of legislation that involves either directly or indirectly, the adult education community.

  7. Our Lobbyist and elected CCAE leaders meet with other adult education groups to provide a united front regarding legislation.

  8. Our Lobbyist takes direction from, and meets regularly with, our CCAE State Officers and Legislative Committee.

  9. We have members working at the Chapter, Section, and State levels to insure that legislation that benefits adult education is supported and passed.

  10. One-thousand, five-hundred-fifty of our members received professional development opportunities this past year at State and Section Conferences and other staff development presentations this past year.

  11. CCAE provides the GED Academies which trains GED teachers throughout the state.

  12. CCAE is run by member volunteers. Our members organize the annual conferences, fill elected offices at all three levels, serve on various action committees, and establish the goals and direction of our organization.

  13. When I am a member of CCAE my voice is strengthened when combined with the other thirty-four hundred members state-wide.

  14. The Adult Education Administrator from the California Department of Education attend and participates in CCAE State board meetings and meets regularly with our leadership for an open flow of ideas between CCAE and CDE.

  15. Established in 1943, CCAE has won the respect of elected officials, legislators, governmental agencies, and appointed officials.

  16.  CCAE annually sponsors legislation through supportive state Legislators, and actively works for the passage of these bills.

  17. CCAE dues are tax deductible.

  18. CCAE Chapters are involved in supporting local adult school activities.

  19. CCAE activities and events are excellent opportunities for networking and sharing information with other adult educators throughout the state.

  20. CCAE has a Representative on an important STRS Committee allowing us the opportunity to monitor STRS actions and provide input.

  21. Our STRS Rep provides excellent workshops and is available for member questions and provide advice.

  22. CCAE sponsors an annual Legislative Day in Sacramento where upwards of 150 of our members meet with each of 120 State Legislators or their top Education Aide.

  23.  My CCAE dues are the lowest of any adult education professional organization.

  24. CCAE operates with a small staff that includes a part-time Legislative Analyst, part-time Executor Director, and a Manager/Secretary that runs our State Office in Sacramento.
