Debbie Norgaard is the current CCAE Bay Section President. She has worked in Adult Education for over 20 years in many capacities from classified, credentialed teacher, and presently administration. At the 2011 CCAE/COABE National Conference, Debbie took a leadership role as the co-chair of offsite events which included the Sunset Bay Cruise and Dinner Dance.  Debbie believes Adult Education is truly a rewarding profession and acknowledges that the last couple of years has been a roller coaster ride and the future looks equally challenging.  Even though Adult Education is in an uncertain state, Debbie is happy to see support and enthusiasm from all CCAE members.

Sally Fowler, current Central Section President, has been active in adult education for over 18 years and involved in CCAE leadership at the local, section and state level. Sally began her adult education experience as a Guidance Learning Director for Fresno Adult School working with the High School and Career Technical Education Programs.  She has served as a Vice Principal, Assistant Principal and is currently the Principal at Fresno Adult School. She co-chaired the 2007 State CCAE Conference and is co-chair of our 2012 State CCAE Conference, “The Great CCAE Round-Up” to be held in Fresno, May 3–5, 2012.

Sonya Ramirez has worked in adult education with the Division of Adult and Career Education a part of the Los Angeles Unified School District since 1989. Sonya began as a Teacher's Assistant in the Individualized Instruction and Basic Reading Labs. Upon receiving her degree, she began teaching the following subjects: Computers, CAHSEE Prep, and an Algebra class. Working in and for adult education has been very rewarding for Sonya and she is proud to be a part of an organization that supports, advocates and recognizes the adult education community. She believes it is important to continue to provide educational learning opportunities.

 
     
 

Dennis Flynn

Dennis P. Flynn earned a B.A. in Business Administration and an M.A. in Education Administration from the University of the Pacific.  He began his career in education as a elementary school teacher and then served as Elementary Assistant Principal and Elementary Principal before accepting his current assignment at the Stockton School for Adults.  Dennis became a member of CCAE in 2006 and was soon recruited to serve on the Board of Directors.  Dennis enjoys working with adults and is committed to helping each student attain their goals.  His interests outside of school include social media, innovative technologies, boating, home renovation, yoga  and flying.  He served as President of Phi Delta Kappa (2000), University of the Pacific Chapter, is currently Vice President of The Library & Literacy Foundation for San Joaquin County, serves on the leadership team for CARES for Youth, and is the President of CCAE, Northern Section, for 2010–2012.

Steve has worked 16 years in K-AE education. Ten of those years have been in Adult Ed as an administrator. As an administrator Steve has overseen CTE, ASE, ABE, ESL, and Community Education. Currently, Steve is the Principal of the Huntington Beach Adult School as well as the district’s independent study high school and the community day school. Steve has also been involved with CCAE since the very first year he moved into Adult Ed and has held both chapter and section level positions. He and his wife, Michele, have three children in live in South Orange County.

Lorrie Christie began working in the SBCUSD in 1986 as an Instructional Aide in elementary schools, moved up to Tutorial Assistant in both middle school and adult school, and then on to a full-time teaching position as a computer instructor at the San Bernardino Adult School in 1992.  That is where she has been ever since.

Lorrie has been an active member of CCAE since 1992 and has held several chapter board positions – everyone but treasurer.  She is currently serving as the Southern Section President.
