Excellence in Support Services

Abisag Nunez

Abi began working for Montebello Community Adult School as a Student Clerk and was quickly promoted to Student Assistant for Adult Education. Abi keeps the office running smoothly while enrolling students, providing information, translating for Non-English speakers, and processing financial transactions.

Abi's presence is vital to Montebello Community Adult School's High School Diploma Program. Abi has taken on the additional duty of acting as liaison between concurrent students and Adult Education. She makes certain that students are led to the proper resources of information to make their journey to high school graduation a clear and unobstructed path. In addition, Abi is one of the first designated and trained Supervisors in charge of the HiSet for the entire Montebello Unified School District. She enrolls the students, collects fees, and ensures that students' needs are being met by making sure to answer every one of their questions clearly and tirelessly. Abi also proctors the HiSet exam. Abi currently administers the CASAS program at her work site. She pre-tests all newly registered students, completes and submits entry/update forms, and ensures all students are post-tested. This is crucial work since CASAS is a major source of funding for the program.

Abi has been an active member of CCAE since 2002. She never misses an opportunity to attend meetings or volunteer. Abi is an Executive Board member in charge of Membership for the Montebello Chapter. She has significantly increased the number of Diamond Members within the Montebello Chapter. Abi has also previously held the esteemed position of Chapter Secretary. Abi regularly attends CCAE Section meetings and makes a conscientious effort to keep Montebello Chapter members informed of what is happening at the Section level. Abi then motivates everyone to participate in conferences, fundraisers and legislative efforts. She has also attended numerous CCAE conferences, enthusiastically returning to the Montebello Chapter to share what she has learned with colleagues. Abi understands the importance of CCAE at the Chapter, Section, and State levels. Abi has attended CCAE State conferences and taken what she's learned at workshops and shared it with her colleagues at the Section and Chapter levels.
