As champions of adult education, we understand the transformative power it holds for individuals and communities alike, even as funding for programs remains stagnant. The San Francisco Examiner highlights the resilience of California's adult education system even as it grapples with rising demand and stagnant funding.

This article is a compelling read for anyone invested in the future of adult education. It underscores the crucial role these programs play in helping adults gain new skills, improve their lives, and contribute meaningfully to the economy. Despite the financial hurdles, adult education continues to be the key to unlocking better opportunities for thousands of Californians.

Now, more than ever, it's essential to stay informed and advocate for the resources that will allow these programs to thrive. Read the full article by clicking the button below, and join us in supporting adult education.

We are pleased to share that California Adult Education Program (CAEP) funding for the 2024-2025 fiscal year is receiving a 1.07% increase! In a time of budget shortfalls, this speaks very positively to the Governor and Legislature's commitment to supporting Adult Education. In June, a memo re-confirming California's commitment to maintain protected, categorical status for adult education funding was sent to school administrators. The memo is linked here. It is important for all adult education staff members to be aware that our agencies are funded by these restricted dollars that are separate from other funding sources for K-12 school districts and community colleges.

During times of potential cuts and tighter budgets across districts, we encourage you to share this information with your district to ensure awareness and clarity regarding these restrictions. Our advocacy for Adult Education is as important as ever! Stay tuned for a set of webinars this coming year to help people learn more about advocacy and how they can participate!
