From former student to current teacher at Martinez Adult Education Lillian came to Martinez Adult Education when she moved to California, she was looking for a new career and completed the Medical Billing and Coding program, received her certification, and decided that teaching would be her new career. She was hired and completed her credential over 14 years ago. Since then, Lillian has been the lead teacher for the Medical Billing and Coding program. She has helped hundreds of students realize their career goals of being hired at many great health care facilities in their Medical Billing and Coding departments. One employer in particular UCSF health services has hired many students with no experience if they have passed the Certified Professional Coder (CPC) exam and have had Lillian as a teacher. Her reputation of providing excellent training and having high expectations of her students is well known in the field. Speaking of high expectations, her students who take the CPC exam pass on the first attempt. It is a grueling exam taking many hours to complete, but Lillian prepares them well and makes sure they are ready to pass when they register for the test. It is not unusual to see Lilian here before and after class supporting students and answering their questions even after her teaching time is done. She makes sure she is up-to-date on all her certifications and that she is aware of what is going on in this career field. She is incredibly supportive of her students and also of all the staff. She never says no to helping a new teacher or staff member with any request. Lillian is a true asset and Martinez Adult Education is incredibly lucky to have her as part of the team.
