Glenn County Adult Programs Celebrate Anniversaries

CCAE wishes to congratulate the adult education programs in Glenn County: Glenn Adult Program and Success One Charter, on their 30th anniversary and 10th anniversary respectively.

On Tuesday, October 8th current and former students and staff members celebrated together in Orland, California. The theme of the event was “The Past, The Present, The Future”. Speakers included Mr. Ryan Bentz, Superintendent of Glenn County Schools; Ms. Lorena Chavez, Student; and Ms. Linda Riggle, Glenn 2 Greatness Network Chair.

Representatives from the offices of Senator Brian Dahle and Assemblymember James Gallagher presented certificates congratulating both programs on their longevity and accomplishments in the community. The highlight of the evening was a video edited by staff to combine excerpts from “California Adult Education: One Hundred Fifty Years” video with the history of adult education in Glenn County.

The sense of pride in the programs created to serve the communities of Orland and Willows was evident. At the end of the event participants were invited to write down their hopes for the future of adult education in California on slips of paper which were sealed in a time capsule to be opened in ten years. We look forward to being invited back in ten years to open the time capsule and find out if our predictions for the future of Adult Education in California have been realized!
