Francisco Lopez is a successful immigrant story. At the age of 9, Francisco immigrated to the United States and began his journey in a new country. A Mexican immigrant whose dreams were to become a doctor where changed when he found an inspiration for teaching while at the UC Irvine. He received his bachelors at UCI and pursued his teaching and Master’s Degree in Education Administration at Cal State University, San Bernardino. He began teaching in elementary school 1997 and then moved to adult education where he remained for over 10 years.
In addition to teaching in the GED and Adult Basic Education program, Francisco also worked with high school age students toward passing the GED exam. Francisco’s approach provides a meaningful and successful experience for his students. His presence has positively impacted the lives of adults and teens, not only by providing an education that results in a tremendous rate of success on the GED exam, but by building in them, a greater understanding of the importance of education for their own families. Francisco is extremely professional and his classroom is inviting and provides a safe atmosphere for learning. He is organized, provides structure conducive to student success and he challenges students to advance in their educational career.
Francisco is intimately involved in the school’s use of technology in the classroom. He is a contributing member of the Technology Committee and assisted in the development of the school’s technology plan. Francisco’s use of technology to deliver the curriculum has increased student learning and he shares his expertise with others and has developed and presented several professional development workshops for staff. Francisco is an important member of Chaffey Adult School’s Leadership Team and has served as President of the Chaffey Adult School Chapter of CCAE, the California Council for Adult Education. Francisco played a major role in the production of the state conferences for this organization, providing information and professional development related to issues of significance for adult educators. Francisco’s collaboration and leadership abilities and professional approach has proven vital to the success of the direction of the Adult School. Francisco is a true asset to Chaffey Adult School and Adult Education in California.
Francisco currently holds the position of President - elect for the Southern Section, where is remains very active even though, his ours in adult education have been reduced. He has been instrumental in providing the technology and media needs for both the state conference in San Diego and the regional co-conference in Palm Springs.
He has a beautiful family with his wife of 18 years and 3 daughters and yet always seems to find time to support CCAE functions, such as conferences and Leg Day year after year. He is a very dedicated member of CCAE. In his "spare time" he enjoys running and vacationing in the Caribbean.
