Juan Noguera

Juan is extremely active in adult education. He is currently serving on a committee for Revision of Completers; serving in the cohort to improve CASAS benchmarks; currently serving as Evans site rep for ESL to the AB86 consortium general assembly. He has been in adult education since 1999 and a CCAE member since 2008. He has been an ESL instructor and Distance Learning instructor and served as ESL Department chair. He has served as coordinator of Evan's student council from 2002 - 2010. Currently he is the lead advisor for the ESL Department. He traveled to Washington, DC to accept a "Save Adult Ed" award from the National Council on Literacy. He has also gone to Sacramento as a representative of the Natl. Council of Literacy to speak with elected officials. Juan is frequently invited to be a guest speaker on Spanish media channels and is a regular speaker on the radio show 'La Educaion". He participates as in an on-going series of panel discussions on KFPK Radio. He participates and presents workshops at local and state conferences. He is exactly the sort of dedicated AE instructor and active CCAE member that will be needed in the on-going efforts to secure the future of Adult Ed in California. He is a perfect example of the sort of dedicated and passionate teacher CCAE needs for upcoming issues concerning development and implementation of AB 86 consortium and on future issues such as immigration reform and the Latin Coalition. In April 2013, Juan brought a petition with 10,000 signatures of adult learners and community member to Sacramento and presented it to legislative aides of Sen. de Leon, Hernandez, Price and Liu.
