Marjorie Schneider has over thirty years’ experience as a teacher in the San Fernando Valley and fifteen years as a CCAE member. From teacher to district advisor to state instructional leader, “Marjie” Schneider has been the role model educator. Always willing to share her expertise with others, Marjie has participated in a multitude of CCAE conferences as both a workshop presenter and committee member. Ms. Schneider has a rich teaching history that began as a K-12 teacher before she became an adult teacher for the LAUSD Division of Adult and Career Education (DACE) in 2000. Marjie has taught ESL, Spanish, ABE, basic language arts, reading, math, and GED® prep classes. She is the consummate teacher with a deep and wide skill base. She has boldly pioneered many important initiatives and improvements in DACE. Reading teachers, with her leadership, provided the ground-breaking pilot for professional learning communities in DACE.
Marjie is a passionate proponent for professional development and has been tireless in developing and providing it from the individual coaching level to small groups to large, state-wide groups. She has mentored dozens of teachers, modeled countless best teaching practices, presented numerous workshops on varied topics, and has worked with CALPRO as an Evidence-Based Reading Institute trainer and webinar presenter. She has also been a contributor to the CALPRO Quarterly newsletter. Much of this work has happened as a DACE central office teacher advisor, which position she has had since 2012. Ms. Schneider has also been a tireless collaborator as a Los Angeles Regional Adult Education Consortium ABE subject matter expert. In this capacity, and in other endeavors, she has been a leader for her team and has promoted digital collaboration with Google apps and Schoology pages to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
