Bio Michelle Farage is an outstanding Culinary instructor. Her curriculum includes Baking and Pastry, International Cuisine, and an Externship module. She engages and supports all students in learning through various learning modes, and she utilizes various instructional technology platforms. In addition, she recently developed a very effective hybrid curriculum model through synchronous and asynchronous learning opportunities. Furthermore, she has had great success teaching disabled adults and high school students.
Michelle is always willing to get involved in curriculum improvement activities such as the Technology Improvement Committee, CCAE chapter meetings, and CCAE fundraising events that provide student scholarships and support the Skills USA program. Recently, she volunteered to have her students provide a CCAE spaghetti lunch fundraiser event. She is also very well respected by her students and her culinary colleagues as her culinary program has a very good reputation in the San Gabriel Valley.
Michelle collaborates with colleagues such as the counselors, the academic support staff, and the America's Job Centers of California (AJCC) staff to help her students thrive and succeed. As a result, her spring 2023 class had 1005 job placements! Michelle positively impacts her students' lives by enabling them to learn the culinary skills needed to obtain employment in various food industry sectors and improve their quality of life. Michelle's culinary program also has a very good reputation with the entire district staff because her students provide a no-cost delicious Holiday Baked Goods Showcase and a spring Culinary Cuisine Showcase for the district staff to enjoy.
Michelle is a very dedicated instructor and she has been a member of CCAE for the past 10 years. She is a single mother and is very proud of how she has been able to raise her child on her own, and she has accomplished and pursued her higher educational goals. Michelle and her Culinary Arts program have an outstanding reputation in Los Angeles County and among her peers. Michelle is an amazing culinary instructor, dedicated CCAE member, and is very deserving of the CCAE Excellence in Teaching State Award.
