EXCELLENCE IN SUPPORT SERVICES AWARD
Nancy Marie Martinez possesses the expertise, work ethic, exceptional people skills, and perhaps most importantly, the passion for adult education needed to advocate for adult education concerns. Throughout her 17 years of service, Nancy has made outstanding contributions to the Montebello Adult Education Department and to the Montebello Chapter, South Coast Section, and State CCAE. It is with great pleasure and honor that I nominate Nancy Marie Martinez for the Excellence in Support Services Award.
EDUCATIONAL AND OCCUPATIONAL BACKGROUND
Nancy attended Montebello High School and graduated in 1997. She has been working continuously for Montebello Community Adult School since graduation, dedicating her entire working career to adult education concerns. Initially working as a student clerk, she was soon promoted to Student Assessment Assistant in the GAIN program. Nancy is currently an Attendance Technician working with both the attendance and counseling offices.
While working full-time, Nancy is also presently a sophomore at Mount St. Mary’s College majoring in Liberal Arts, with a minor in English. She will receive her Bachelor of Arts degree in 2016. Nancy duly noted that adult education students sparked her desire to further her own education so that she could effect change to a larger degree to advance adult education programs. In essence, adult education students have inspired her to meet her own personal and educational goals.
Though it is undoubtedly difficult to combine her university studies with her full-time work schedule and volunteer duties, Nancy does it with aplomb. Her supervisors, co-workers, and professors all can attest to the fact that she gives 110% to each and every commitment she undertakes. Furthermore, Nancy goes the extra mile and continually looks for and participates in seminars, trainings, and workshops that will enhance her skills at the adult education office.
