Vicky Gonzalez has taught since 1985. She has served as a Parent Education Teacher, the lead teacher for the LAUP program and is currently teaching ABE Beginning Literacy as well as GED/HSET prep, and provides parenting workshops for parents in the District.

Vicky is an exemplary teacher who always goes above and beyond for her students. As an ABE teacher, she works with students in the beginning reading and math levels. These students with special needs respond to the innovative lessons that Vicky provides. She approaches each skill with a variety of strategies that have a minimal amount of book work. Students are often seen"scooting" around the room, working on math problems that are taped to the wall or helping each other to answer survey questions they need to graph. Every day, Vicky prepares a selection of units for students to choose from. This addresses the needs of the multiple skill levels of the students in the class.
