Bio
Anthony De Lorenzo is truly gifted at teaching adult students. He began teaching at Montebello Community Adult School in 1997 and has been a devoted member of CCAE for 23 years. He has taught multiple levels of ESL and is currently a High School Subjects teacher. Anthony’s teaching style is very simple. First, he listens to his students; next, he learns and understands each student’s needs and concerns. Finally, he uses his creativity and expertise to personally address those needs.
Anthony has a very welcoming personality and makes each student feel comfortable, safe, and respected. Many of his students are transitioning from ESL into the High School Diploma program, so his experience in teaching ESL gives him a unique perspective on what students want and need.
Years ago, Montebello Community Adult School was in search of a digital format for their High School Diploma program. Anthony researched and connected the school with GradPoint, the school’s current high school online system. Before the pandemic, students used the new digital system in their classrooms. When the pandemic hit, Anthony was able to pivot his and another instructor’s students to Distance Learning using GradPoint. Anthony is the lead teacher for the GradPoint program and has recently trained additional high school staff, including counselors and administration on the GradPoint system. With Anthony's leadership and willingness to mentor staff and enhance its online program, Montebello Community Adult School successfully graduated over 100 students in 2020 and 2021.
When Anthony’s not teaching, he helps manage his family’s Italian restaurant which was founded by his parents in 1975. He’s been married for 14 years and has a daughter and twin boys.
