Cassandra Gordon has worked for LAUSD Adult Ed for 30 years and has been a member of CCAE for 15 years. Ms. Gordon’s career in adult education started in 1991 when she became a Teacher’s Assistant. In 1996, she became an academic teacher and has worked at Evans Community Adult School in the high school dropout recovery program, accelerated college, and career transition program ever since. Most recently, the Central Office and the HiSet testing center recognized Ms. Gordon’s work with the Hollywood ACCT program for achieving the highest number of high school graduates and HiSet passers in LAUSD Adult Ed. Through Ms. Gordon’s guidance and dedication, an increasing number of her graduates have successfully transitioned to post-secondary education. Ms. Gordon’s work goes beyond the classroom and into the community where she has taught at a satellite location under the Shields for Families Drug Intervention Program for 11 years. Recently, Ms. Gordon also received an award from the center for her outstanding service as both a teacher and mentor in support of their mission to rehabilitate individuals back to sober living.
