JoDee Slyter has been a member of the adult education community for over 32 years as a teacher, program coordinator, and as a site and regional Administrative Director. During her career, she was employed by Chino Valley Unified School District and Corona-Norco Unified School District. She has participated on a variety of committees and boards including the CASAS Program Evaluation Team, the CALPRO Program Advisory Board, the OTAN Advisory Committee, the Riverside Workforce Development Board and several CAEP committees contributing the voice of adult education practitioners. JoDee has a strong commitment to California’s redesign of adult education programs and services and is passionate about adult education. Her focus has centered on building capacity and value in adult education locally, regionally and state-wide through her efforts of advocating with elected officials, increasing funding for agencies, and supporting adult educators as a mentor and trainer. Ms. Slyter has served as the Regional Director for the ABOUT STUDENTS Regional Consortium for Adult Education in Riverside.
JoDee Slyter completed her MA in Educational Leadership, Administrative Credential from UC, San Bernardino in 2006. She was the Regional Director of the ABOUT STUDENTS Riverside Regional Consortium from 2015-to 2022. Prior to that, she served as the Director of Corona-Norco Adult School for 13 years after being an adult education ABE/ESL/ASE teacher for another 13 years with Chino Valley Adult School. She is a field representative member of all three California Leadership Project Advisory Boards, namely, OTAN, CALPRO, and CASAS. She was an active member, conference presenter, and representative of CCAE throughout her career in adult education from 2004-to 2022, serving in leadership roles and chairing numerous conferences for CAEAA, ACSA, and CCAE. She was awarded Region XIX ACSA AE Admin of the Year twice, Soroptimist of Corona Woman of the Year in Education and recognized by Senator Richard Roth, District 31 and United Way of Corona for outstanding contributions to education.
JoDee served the Adult Education community in the Inland Empire region through the housing economic crisis of the late 2000s with grit, passion, and finesse and championed K-12 adult education during the AEBG consortium building strategies thus leading the Riverside ABOUT STUDENTS Consortium and Region 19. Most recently, she served as a board member at the Riverside Workforce Development Board bringing funds to provide digital devices to all adult students in need in Riverside County at the beginning of the COVID pandemic through the CARES Act Grant. After thirty-three years of serving the adult education community at the local, regional, and state levels, JoDee Slyter retired on Feb.15, 2022, and moved with her husband to Oregon. The Inland Empire K-12 Adult Education Community and CCAE Southern Section thanks her for her leadership, guidance, and passion in all things Adult Education.
