Bio
Michelle Winnett is an ABE teacher who intensely focuses on meeting the needs of her students. She carefully prepares and teaches lessons, stays after class to assist students, and encourages students to graduate with a plan for their future. She continually searches for community resources to which she can refer students for additional assistance with issues that are interfering with their educational needs in an effort to break down learning barriers for her students. In all of her activities, Ms. Winnett uses an enthusiastic and engaging approach that fosters collegiality and cooperation. Students respond very positively to Ms. Winnett’s carefully arranged, engaging lessons. When her students are repeatedly absent, she calls them to show she cares about their success and to encourage persistence. She wants her classroom to be a safe, positive, and encouraging environment for our students, and her approach fosters that attitude in her students. Ms. Winnett has worked as an ABE teacher at Fairfield Adult School in the Bay Area since 1999 and has a 15-year long history with CCAE. During the 2015-2016 school year, she relocated to San Diego County and started teaching with Sweetwater-Adult Education at Montgomery Adult School. She has been an important part of their ABE team and is currently the ABE Corrective Language Arts and Writing Teacher.
