Lizbeth Rubio
Excellence in Support Services - Classified

  • Proud CCAE Member, LA Metro Section
Bio
Lizbeth Rubio has served the Southeast Community for over 15 years. Her tireless service in a support assignment began at AFOC as a Perkins Advisor in 2012. She started working with Adult Ed in the Apprenticeship program in 2007. In time, Ms. Rubio transitioned and worked her way to Slawson Southeast Occupational Center. She has flourished at Slawson with her no nonsense and direct answers. Ms. Rubio has been overseeing the CTE program for the past two years and has made great strides assisting with growing the program. She works with our AJCC partners working on I-Train contracts. She also works with JobCorps and is in constant communication providing them progress reports and scheduling students. Additionally, Ms. Rubio works collaboratively with the Building Trades and the MC3 program supporting students they refer to us. Ms. Rubio is our CTE Pathway Advisor and her job title does not limit her from assisting students and teachers in other programs. Her passion for education and what she does is evident throughout all four of Slawson Southeast Occupational Center campuses as she serves all students without reservation.

Ms. Rubio served on the Volunteer Committee for LA Metro’s 2022 State Conference. Her countless hours of volunteering and leadership were instrumental in making the 2022 State Conference a success. Ms. Rubio provided valuable insight and leadership in recruiting and managing the volunteers needed for the conference planning, preparation and tear down.
Not only was she responsible for overseeing the volunteers, but she also volunteered herself. LA Metro Section President Aaron Saenz, recalls “I remember spending an entire evening dethroning and de-leafing dozens and dozens of roses with Ms. Rubio in preparation for the Friday Awards Banquet. It is the willingness of leaders like Ms. Rubio who are not afraid to perform the work they ask of others to make CCAE a better organization.”
