Bio
Rebecca Monjaraz was hired as a full time transition counselor in 2019. She jumped right in and in her first month at work in May of 2019 and presented at the state conference in San Diego. She continues to attend all conferences since 2019 and has presented with her colleague on both transitions as well as on the income and earnings workshops that helped to increase student enrollments and improve payment points throughout the state.
At the Section level, Rebecca has presented in the last 2 conferences. She has set up scaffolding for how to transition both High School Diploma students and ESL students from our K12 schools to our local community college.
Rebecca took on the daunting job of trying to track adult learners struggling through multiple barriers to gain access to the programs at our local community college. She truly pivoted her services during the pandemic and offered 1:1 counseling support via zoom and google duo. She dedicated herself to this despite the fact that the college she serves in our consortia cut her hours and eliminated her benefits during COVID. She remained dedicated to our adult students during the most trying times we have ever seen and for this the Victor Valley College Region and the Apple Valley, Lucerne Valley Snowline Joint Unified and Victor Valley Adult schools will forever be truly grateful for her tireless dedication to the adult learners in the region.
